Edward S. GAMBLE, a driver for the United State Mail, was arrested for
robbing the mail. He was found drunk at Ninth and Brown with over 200
letters of Harrisburg and Wilmington Delaware mails. The clerks there
were missing the letters since 24 June.
George P. SMITH, proprieter of a saloon at S.W. corner of Pasyunk Road
and Federal Streets was charged with a misdemeanor which forbids the
selling of oysters and clams during the months of July and August. He
was turned in by Richard STOKES, who is a "public informer".
