LIEUTENANT WOODS NOW.

Special to the Tribune.
  Lewiston, August 20. - Joseph M. Woods, jr., a son of ex-judge and Mrs. J. 
M. Woods, of Ridge Road, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the 
U.S. Army, and will leave for France soon.  Lieutenant Woods had two years' 
military training at Princeton university and enlisted May 1, going direct to 
Camp Grant, Rockford, Ill.  The young lieutenant is a descendant of the 
Witherspoon family, signers of the Declaration of Independence, and has an 
older brother an officer in the navy.
