JUMPS FROM ENGINE, INJURED.

Special to the Tribune.
Mifflin, Pa., Aug. 12. - William C. Shelly, 32 years old, of Newport,
sustained painful if not serious injuries Sunday evening when he leaped, from
the locomotive he was firing, to the tracks while running at a speed of 30
miles an hour. Shelly was employed as a brakeman, but was firing his station
to relieve the fireman and it is believed the heat affected him as he walked
from the fire door to the space between the engine and tank and looking ahead
yelled to the engineer "switch wrong" and made the leap. His injuries, so
far as the physicians could learn, consisted of ugly lacerations and
contusions of the head, face and entire body.
