Smethport) of Salamanca, N.Y., on Christmas, Dec. 25, 1913, a baby boy. The
Democrat unites in tendering congratulations to the happy parents on the
advent of this priceless Christmas gift.

Hon. Henry Hamlin, one of Smethport's oldest and best known citizens, is
celebrating his 84th birthday anniversary today. Mr. Hamlin is a remarkably
active man for one of his years and can be seen at the Hamlin Bank & Trust Co.
every day, rain or shine. The Democrat joins with a host of friends in the
sincere hope that Mr. Hamlin may be spared to celebrate many more birthday
anniversaries.

Enjoyable Birthday Party
Friends and neighbors to the number of twenty-one gathered at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Pattison, of Hamlin township, the other day, for the purpose
of tendering Mr. Pattison a birthday surprise party the day being that
gentleman's 75th birthday anniversary. A most enjoyable evening was spent by
those who were present on this delightful occasion. A delicious luncheon was
served. The guests on taking their departure for their respective homes all
joined in the sincere hope that Mr. Pattison may be spared to celebrate many
more happy birthday anniversaries.
The out-of-town guests present on this occasion were: Mrs. Mary Terry, Mrs.
Alta Ness, Mrs. Ellen Hoffman and Miss Helen Terry, of Smethport.

The pleasant news has reached Smethport form San Francisco, Cal., that a
baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. G.B. Mayo in that city last Friday. After
leaving Smethport some time ago Mrs. Mayo stopped in San Francisco with her
family, while Mr. Mayo, who is holding a government position in Manila,
Philippine Islands, proceeded on his way to that far off country. The
Democrat joins with the host of Smethport friends of Mr. and Mrs. Mayo in
extending congratulations to hem ton this auspicious occasion.

Fountain street, Battle Creek, Michigan, on August 2, 1914, a baby girl.

Scipio Young, Kane's oldest citizen, celebrated his 95th birthday
anniversary on Tuesday of last week, and with mental faculties' unimpaired,
and general health good. Mr. Young was born in Virginia in 1819, and came to
Kane in 1862, where he has continued to reside ever since with the exception
of the time he served in the War of the Rebellion. Mr. Young is the father of
T.J. Young, of this borough, and is well known to many of our citizens.
