  1897.  The date of publication is shown prior to the item(s).  There is no

  January 1, 1897
  
    A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Olof Hector, of upper King street, last 
  Wednesday morning.
  
  January 15, 1897
  
  Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Brownell were made happy on Saturday last by the arrival at 
  their home of a boy baby.  Fred has been kept busy during the past few days 
  receiving the congratulations of his friends.
  
  January 29, 1897
  
  Mr. and Mrs. Mayo, of Ormsby, are rejoicing over the arrival of a new boy at 
  their home Friday.

    Mr. and Mrs. John w. Baker, formerly of this borough, but now residents of 
  Bradford, are rejoicing over the recent arrival at their home of a baby girl.

    A number of invited guests assembled at the home of Mrs. Erastus Curtis on 
  Thursday, March 25, to celebrate the 92d anniversary of her birth.  At noon a 
  luncheon was served which was partaken of by both young and old.  The 
  afternoon was spent in relating reminiscences rendered by Mr. Curtis.  
  Happiness and good cheer prevailed throughout the day.

    Mr. and Mrs. James Quirk, of Keating township, are rejoicing over the 
  arrival of a bouncing baby boy at their home on Monday last.
  
  April 16, 1897
  
    Geo. Boyer, Sr., one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of 
  Norwich township, was a most welcome caller at the Democrat office on Monday.  
  Mr. Boyer celebrated his 76th birthday on Saturday last, and the Democrat 
  joins with a host of friends in the hope that his life may be spared many 
  years.
  
  May 7, 1897
  
    Through an oversight the democrat failed to make mention of the fact that 
  Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lemmler's household was brightened on Sunday, April 25th, 
  by the arrival of a baby girl.  As it is never too late to extend 
  congratulations on such an auspicious event, the Democrat take this occasion 
  to extend its heartiest congratulations, with the hope that the little Miss 
  Lemmler may grow into beautiful womanhood, and be a joy and a comfort to her 
  parents in their declining years.
  
    Mr. and Mrs. M.W. Heinlein, of Farmers Valley, are rejoicing over the 
  arrival of a bouncing baby boy at their home Wednesday.  Congratulations are 
  now in order.

  Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Tanner, of East Smethport, were made happy last Saturday by 
  the advent in their home of a boy baby.
  
    Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Irons of Keating township are the proud parents of a 
  baby boy who put in an appearance at their home on Saturday, may 8.
  
  June 18, 1897
  
    M.K. Hacket, Esq., of this borough, celebrated his 79th birthday at the home 
  of his son, Albert Hacket, in Keating township, on Friday last, where a 
  reunion was held in honor of the event.  Mr. Hacket is one of our oldest and 
  best known citizens and the Democrat hopes that his life may be spared to 
  celebrate many more anniversaries.

    Mac Windsor, of Conductor Gillespie's train is wearing a broad smile all on 
  account of that new girl which arrived at his home in Clermont Monday.
  
  July 23, 1897
  
    Mrs. Armenia Corwin, of this borough, celebrated her eighty-ninth birthday 
  on the 11th inst.
  
  July 30, 1897
  
    Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McDermott, of this borough, are the proud parents of a 
  baby boy.

     A.E. Wormer, the popular agent at the Western, New York & Pennsylvania 
  station at East Smethport, and Mrs. Wormer are rejoicing over the arrival at 
  their home on Wednesday of a baby boy.  The Democrat tenders its 
  congratulations on this pleasant occasion.
  
  August 13, 1897
  
    Mrs. E.T. Daly in honor of the fourth birthday anniversary of her son, 
  Robert, invited in a number of Master Robert's little friends last Saturday 
  afternoon, and a most enjoyable time is reported by all.  Between five and six 
  o'clock elegant refreshments were served to which all did ample justice.  
  Robert was the recipient of several appropriate and handsome presents.
  
  September 24, 1897
  
    A boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Barbour on Tuesday.
  
    Mr. and Mrs. Fred Watkins are rejoicing over the arrival, last Sunday, of a 
  bouncing baby boy.
  
    Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Greer are entertaining a baby girl.  The young lad put in 
  an appearance last Saturday.
  
  October 8, 1897
  
    Mr. and Mrs. M.S. Comes, of Marvin creek, are entertaining a baby boy, who 
  put in an appearance on Sept. 23.  The Democrat extends its congratulations.
  
  October 22, 1897
  
    Mr. and Mrs. John Beastrom of Hazel Hurst, are rejoicing over the arrival at 
  their home of a bouncing baby boy.  The young gentleman put in an appearance 
  on Saturday last.
  
  October 29, 1897
  
    Mr. and Mrs. E.K. Kane, of Kushequa, welcomed a baby girl at their home on 
  the 16th inst.
  
    Mr. and Mrs. Washington Stark are rejoicing over the arrival of a young 
  daughter at their home.  This is the first girl that has blessed this home, 
  and as a matter of course there is great rejoicing in the Stark household.  
  The Democrat tenders it congratulations on this auspicious occasion.
  
    On Wednesday last Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Brownell arranged a surprise party for 
  their father, Hon. W.S. Brownell, in honor of his 79th birthday.  The surprise 
  was complete, and when Judge Brownell walked into the house and found a room 
  full of old time friends who had gathered together to felicitate him on his 
  birthday anniversary he was quite overcome, but soon recovered himself and 
  bade his friends a hearty welcome.  The following guests, whose ages ranged 
  from 60 to 87 years, were present on this pleasant occasion:  Messrs, Erastus 
  Curtis, 87; P. Ford, 86; Mrs. Mary G. Brown, of Syracuse, N.Y., 82; Messrs. 
  Stephen McCoy, 80; W,S. Brownell, 79; B.D. Hamlin, 73; J.R. Chadwick 73; Wm. 
  Ramer, 72; John Gardner, 70; Wm. Haskell, 66; D.L. Forsyth, 64; Geo. R. Allen, 
  Syracuse, 60.  This was a remarkable gathering in many respects, every one of 
  the guests being active and in good health, something that is worthy of note 
  when it is taken into consideration the great ages of those present.  The 
  Democrat extends its congratulations to Judge Brownell, with the hope that his 
  life may be spared to celebrate many another just such pleasant birthday 
  anniversary.
  
  December 10, 1897
  
    Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Bayer, of Keating township, were made happy last Monday by 
  the arrival, at their home, of a 10 pound baby boy.
  
    Mr. and Mrs. Robert Oliver, of Perce brook, Keating township, are the proud 
  parents of a baby boy.  The young son put in an appearance last Monday.
  
  December 17, 1897
  
    ON Friday evening of last week the friends of A.J. Parker, of East 
  Smethport, gave him a surprise party in honor of his 61st birthday.  The 
  surprise was a complete one to Mr. Parker, and a most enjoyable evening was
