Mrs. Lutitia Gearhart Mansfield passed away at 2:20 A. M. this morning, August
9, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. T. C Hoyt, Jr. She
had been in failing health for several years. A daughter of C. C. and Catherine
Gaupp Gearhart, born March 13, 1864, at Brookville, Mrs. Mansfield had lived
there until her marriage, and the remainder of her life, with the exception of
the past five years, she had lived in Sykesville. She come to her daughter's
home five years ago. Mrs. Mansfield was a member of the Sykesville Methodist
Church: of Pythian Sisters, and the Ladies Aid of her church. She leaves one
daughter, Zola, wife of T. C. Hoyt, Jr., of Indiana, and two sisters, Mrs. Etta
Smith, Big Run, and Mrs. Howard Loghry, Sykesville. Friends will be received at
the home of her son-in-law and daughter, 340 North Ninth Street. after 12:00
noon Wednesday, where services will be held Wednesday evening, August 10, at
7:30 P. M. (DST) the Rev R. C. McMinn officiating. Friends may pay their respect
in Sykesville at the Methodist Church from the noon hour on Thursday, August 11,
until the time of services in the church at 2:30 o'clock (DST) that afternoon,
Rev. I. G. Koonce and Rev. Howard L. Smith officiating. Interment will be in
Sykesville Cemetery.
