SAXON

  Thomas Worthing has returned home from a two weeks visit to Cambria 
county.
  Miss Sarah Shannon left on Saturday for Atlantic City, where she will 
remain for two weeks.
  Dr. and Mrs. Ross Shoemaker are receiving congratulations upon the 
arrival of a young daughter at their home last week. The child has been 
named Margaret.
  J. E. Enyeart, who was on his way home with his family from Atlantic 
City two weeks ago was taken very seriously ill and rushed to the 
Huntingdon hospital, was so far improved in health that he was able to 
return to his home in Saxton last Sunday evening.
  Mrs. Catharine Figard entertained at her home last Tuesday evening in 
honor of Anson Kelly, who left on Wednesday morning for Mt. Airy 
college. There were about twenty young people present and the evening 
was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
  Rev. Oyler, pastor of the First Methodist church, Phillipsburg, was a 
guest at the Methodist parsonage in Saxton on Tuesday.
  On Saturday, September 16, the Hopewell Grangers will hold their 
annual basket picnic at Hopewell. Arrangements already made will 
provide a day's enjoyment for all those who attend. Among the speakers 
who will be present are A. C. Richards, of New Paris, and Joseph 
Donohue, of Bedford. The day's program will include music by the 
Hopewell orchestra, baseball games and other amusements. In the evening 
a festival will be held, to which everyone is invited.
