LITTLE GIRL KNOCKED DOWN BY AUTOMOBILE

Dorothea, Daughter of Dr. R. F. Beatty, Is Seriously Injured

HUNTINGDON, August 5. - A distressing accident occurred on Saturday night
when Dorothea, the little 7-year-old daughter of Dr. R. F. Beatty, dentist,
was knocked down and perhaps fatally injured by an auto. The little girl was
crossing Fifth street, between Steel's grocery and Casner's grocery, and
stepped from in front of a standing auto into the path of a large machine
driven by Isaac Acker. She was more likely crushed by the front wheel in
conjunction with the kerosene can she was carrying than run over, as she
sustained punctures of the lung, injuries of the right shoulder, a cut
downward over the chin, and bruises over the body. At first it was thought
she could not live. She was taken to the Blair Memorial hospital, where in
the interval until Monday evening she was doing well so that the prospects
are for recovery.
