                        Media Couple Wed 49 Years

        Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE E. WHITAKER, of 313 Manchester avenue,
    yesterday observed the forty-ninth anniversary of their wedding. Mr.
    WHITAKER is owner of the MORTON CHRONICLE, which paper he
    published and edited for a number of years. He retired from the
    newspaper game owing to failing health.

        Both Mr. and Mrs. WHITAKER have been residents of Media all their
    lives. They have three children, GEORGE A., who resides at Rutledge;
    ELMER A., of Philadelphia and Mrs. WILLIAM THOMPSON GOHN,
    who resides in Milwaukee, Wis.

        Mr. WHITAKER's "hobby" is raising dahlias and he has wonderful
    success each season.

        For 18 years, Mr. WHITAKER was president of the Media School
    Board. He is a member of George W. Bartram Lodge, No. 208 F.
    and A. M. of Media.
