WORKER KILLED BY CAR OF HIT-RUN MOTORIST
Buckman Village Resident, Father of Two Children, the Victim
Fatility Occurred on the Post Road at Trainer; Police Begin Probe
A 40-year-old Chester man, apparently the victim of a hit-run motorist, was
found dead near the Sinclair Refining Company's loading rack at Post road and
Gilbert street, Trainer, shortly after 11 o'clock last night.
the man, John J. Shaw, of 1150 Keystone road, Buckman Village, was probably
struck about 10 minutes after he left the American Viscose Corporation plant
in Marcus Hook where he was employed on the 3 to 11 o'clock shift.
Authorities were able to tantatively fix the time of the accident at 11.10
o'clock, as Chester hospital physicians said Shaw had been dead about 20
minutes when he was admitted to the instituion at 11.30 o'clock.
the body was discovered by Miss Sadie Murphy, of west Fourth street,
Trainer, and several friends with whom she was walking toward her home. A
motorist, John DuBilino, of Marcus Hook, was hailed and took Shaw to the
hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Chief of Police John F. MacDonald, of Trainer, began an immediate
investigation of the fatility. Scant information was available immediately
because of the apparent lack of eye-witnesses.
The body was turned over to Deputy Coroner H. P. Cloud, of Marcus Hook, who
is working with the police in the probe. Identification of the vicitm was
made by his brother, William H. Shaw, of 1142 Meadow lane.
Shaw, who had worked at the Viscose plant for a number of years, is survived
by his widow and two children, Helen, 13, and John, four, in addition to his
mother, Mrs. Nellie Shaw.
Four brothers, Leonard, William H., George and Edgar Shaw, and a sister,
Miss Nellie Shaw, also survive. All live in this city with the exception of
Edgar, who is a resident of Yeadon.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Additional Comments:
The brother listed as Leonard Shaw is Ellenzie Sunfield Shaw.
Edgar Shaw was the twin brother of the deceased John Joseph Shaw.
