                          Two Local Couples Wed For 48 Years
                                    L - 3 - 18 - 1939
 
            Mr. and Mrs. G. WALTER DOWNS, of 222 West Union street, and
    Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES M. COOPER of 304 South Darlington street, are
    today celebrating in a quiet way their forty-eight wedding anniversaries.
            The couples were married in a double ceremony in West Chester, by
    Rev. J. H. Chambers who was then pastor of the Methodist Episcopal 
    church here. Mrs. DOWNS and Mrs. COOPER are sisters, the former
    Misses MARY and GERTRUDE LEWIS, daughters of the late Mr. and Mrs.
    THOMAS LEWIS.
