Johnstown Weekly Democrat. (Cambria County, Pa.) October 18, 1889
By an act of the Legislature, approved April 25, 1889, the act of June 3, 1878,
permitting the killing of quail or Virginia partridge between October 15 and January
1, has been amended, and it now reads as follows: "No person shall kill or expose
for sale, or have in his possession after the same has been killed, any quail or
Virginia partridge, between the 15th day of December in any year and the 1st day of
November next following, under a penalty of $l0 for each bird so killed, exposed for
sale or had in his possession." Gunners would do well to pay strict attention to the
law, as there are a number of gentlemen in this city and county who are anxious that
partridges are protected. They declare that they will see that the law is enforced
to the letter. By the act of 1881 rabbits can be shot only from November 1 to
January 1.
