The Patton Courier: (Patton, Cambria Co., Pa.) May 30, 1929
Setting off a charge of dynamite with suicidal intent, Harry Marunik, aged 45 yeas,
a miner, blew himself into atoms on Monday on a hillside overlooking Nanty-Glo.
Portions of his flesh and clothing were found hanging from the limbs of trees 200
feet away. Despondency caused by injury in a mine accident about five years ago was
attributed for the rash act. Marunik was a former resident of Bakerton and went to
Nanty-Glo about two years ago where he was employed by the Heisley Coal Co. It is
said he has a wife and several children in Europe.
