Ina L. Farber, a young girl under 16 years of age, yesterday made
information before Alderman T. D. Crawford against Archibald Parker and John
Ainsworth, charging them with assault with criminal intent. The young men,
residents of Juniata, were arrested by Constable McFeely and at a hearing in
the afternoon were held under bail for further examination on next Monday.
Alderman J. J. Irwin had quite an interesting court, to some, yesterday
afternoon. Mrs. C. A. Burket charged Mrs. Amanda Lingenfelter with malicious
mischief, the charge being that the defendant threw ashes on the plaintiff's
kitchen floor. At the conclusion of the hearing the defendant was sentenced
to pay the costs and to give bond in the sum of $50 to keep the peace.
Another case growing out of the one related was that of C. A. Burket against
William Lingenfelter, charging the defendant with assault and battery on the
affiant's wife. Burket was sentenced to pay the costs and both parties in
the case to furnish a bond of $100 to keep the peace. Another case caused by
the same trouble was that of Charles Burket, who was accused by William
Lingenfelter with threats. The costs were imposed on Lingenfelter and he was
required to give a bond of $100 to keep the peace.
