Attacked by a Dog.

While on her way home late Tuesday night, Mrs. Samuel Lowder, who resides
at Lexington avenue and Third street, was attacked by a vicious dog. She
cried for help and several persons came to her rescue and drove the brute
away, but not until he had badly torn the lady's clothing. The dog was
frothing at the mouth and, it is said, after being driven away from Mrs.
Lowder he attacked a horse. Patrolman Vaughn was notified and was looking
for the dog yesterday morning, with the intention of shooting it, but could
not find it. When he does there will be a canine funeral.

Cut Himself with an Ax.

Albert Yon, 2325 Sixteenth street, while engaged in cutting timber in the
vicinity of the Buckhorn yesterday morning, cut one of his feet with the ax,
which glanced from the timber he was cutting and sank deep into his foot,
inflicting a serious injury. William Spriggs and another man who were
working with Mr. Yon brought him to the city at once and several physicians
attended him.
