J. D. HICKS IS SEVENTY-FOUR

Departmental Commander of G.A.R. Received Hearty Congratulations

  Hon. J. D. Hicks, former congressman and departmental commander of the Grand 
Army of the Republic, is 74 years of age today.  He reached that milestone in 
his journey through life this morning.  Many of his many friends remembered the 
date and early yesterday afternoon congratulations began to pour in on him.  He 
received letters, telegrams and many cards.  No special plans have been made for 
the celebration of the natal day.
