GEESEYTOWN

Mrs. Ann Eliza Carles of Geeseytown, and a lifelong resident of
Frankstown township quietly celebrated her 87th birthday on Tuesday,
Feb. 24. Mrs. Carles, whose maiden name was Casner, is the daughter of
the late Solomon Casner of Frankstown township. Mrs. Carles, hale and
hearty, does her own house work. Born during Jackson's administration,
the time of stage coaches and as a girl of ten summers when Samuel F.
B. Morse invented the magnetic telegraph, has seen the great progress
and wonderful development of our country in these years. This esteemed
lady retains all her faculties, and can give in detail many interesting
accounts of events occurring three or four score years ago. She has the
distinction of being, at present, the oldest female resident of her
native township.
