Gladys Harr Bates, 74, of Latrobe RD 1, died Saturday, April 29, 1995, in
Latrobe Area Hospital. Born Jan. 30, 1921, in Unity Township, she was a daughter
of the late Lawrence and Maude Baum Harr. She was a member of Bell Memorial
Church, Whitney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
brother, Clarence W. Harr and three sisters, Alice Allshouse, Clara Harr and
Ellamae Hoffer. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William E. Bates
Sr.; a son, William E. Bates Jr. of Ligonier; a daughter, Donna Bates of Latrobe
RD 1; two grandchildren, Jason and Rachel Bates; a brother, Lawrence Harr,
Latrobe RD 1, and two sisters, Dorothy Miedel of Wimmerton and Mary Snyder of
Derry. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Tuesday in Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Route 982 South, Latrobe (Youngstown).
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bell Memorial Church,
Whitney, with the Rev. Merle N. Weimer officiating. Interment will be in St.
Paul Reformed Cemetery, Trauger. B. Snyder is funeral director.
