Parker VALENTINE, of the Francis mine, near Burgettstown, was sentenced to
pay the costs, a fine of $502 and to undergo imprisonment in the workhouse
for ten months. He admitted selling liquor without license, assault and
battery and impersonating an officer. On the liquor charge he was fined $500
and costs and given three months on the assault charge, a fine of $1 and
five months and for impersonating an officer $1 fine and costs, and two
months.

VALENTINE was formerly a Pittsburgh policeman. When he went to
Burgettstown to work it appears he retained his uniform and had been working
in it. On the night he got in trouble he had gone to a dance, and while
there had sold some moonshine at 50 cents a drink. He represented himself
as a state trooper. During the evening he got in a fight with Harlon
GESINGER and in the scrap bit the tip of one of GESINGER's fingers.
