Duquesne Man Instantly Killed In Versailles Early Today
Truck is Demolished at Juniper Street Crossing

John Lukacs, aged about 39 years, of 807 Kahler Street, Duquesne, was almost
instantly killed at 7:45 o'clock this morning when his coal truck was struck
by a light B & O engine at the Juniper Street crossing in Versailles borough.
The truck was demolished and Mr. Lukacs' head was badly crushed and his right
leg broken.

The victim of today's fatal accident has been engaged for some time in the
coal and ice business, but lately has been hauling coal for the State Road
Coal Company. His truck was loaded with coal when the accident occured this
morning. Wreckage of the truck and coal was scattered along the railroad
tracks for some distance.

Lukacs was carried into the hospital at the galvanizing works in Versailles,
but he lived only a few seconds. The body was removed to Volk's undertaking
rooms and prepared for burial. He was a native of Hungary, but had resided in
this country for the past 21 years, and in Duquesne, PA for 16 years past. He
is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Lukacs and by four sons and three
daughters, the oldest being 13 years and the youngest two weeks. The funeral
will be held on Thursday, with interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Duquesne.
Deputy Coroner John Cavanaugh was here today to take proof of identity.
