Mrs. COOPER resides at the corner of First and Vincennes streets, Oakdale,
Pa. She was born in Jefferson county about seven miles from Brookville, Pa.
on the 28th day of March, 182* and was ninety years old on the ... 1919.
Her four children together with some of her close connection gave her a
complete surprise on her ninetieth birthday. Mrs. COOPER's husband, John
COOPER, familiarly known as "Grandpa" COOPER, died five years ago, at the
age of 93 years. At the time of Mr. COOPER's death, the couple had been
married 67 years. The Oakdale board of Trade presented Grandma COOPER with
a large blooming amaryllis, of which she is very proud and very thankful
for. A large bunch of Easter lilies formed the centerpiece for the birthday
dinner table and a very appetizing and bountiful dinner was served. Among
the guests present at this party were:--Judge KING and his wife, of
Armstrong County, E. P. WILLIAMS, New Bethlehem, Pa., Mr. and Mrs. James E.
WILLIAMS, Freeport, Pa., Mrs. WHITMER, wife of Attorney WHITMER, Clairton,
Pa., Mr. and Mrs. F. R. MCFETTERS of Wilkinsburg, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. COOPER
of Pittsburgh, Mrs. TROUTE, wife of Dr. TROUT of Leechburg, Pa., Mrs.
William PETICORD, just home from California and Mrs. SHRODES, who makes her
home with Mrs. COOPER, her mother, and W. L. COOPER, auditor for Pittsburgh
Plate Glass Co., and wife of Bellevue. Mrs. KING, Mrs. TROUT, A. F. COOPER
and Mrs. SHRODES are the four living children. She also has 13
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Grandmother COOPER, whose
birthday was the occasion of this celebration, is in excellent health and
she seemed to enjoy this birthday as much as any of the guests present. We
hope Grandmother COOPER may live to enjoy many more pleasant birthdays, such
as her 90th birthday, which was celebrated by her children and close
connection.
