UNION GROVE, Wis., March 11, Funeral services for Mrs. 
Alfred Sumpter were held Tuesday afternoon from the home 
and from the Congregational church, of which she had been 
over 57 years one of the most faithful and devoted 
members. The auditorium was filled with relatives and 
friends who came to: the last tribute to a woman beloved 
as a true friend ,and a kind neighbor, and whose 
Christian example all respected.
Her pastor, Dr. F. N. Dexter, conducted the services. An 
organ "The Holy City," was given by miss Edna Meredith.
who also gave vocally a favorite hymn of deceased, "When 
They Ring Those Golden Bells for You and Me." Miss Dexter 
accompanying. Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Griffiths sang 
"Beautiful Valley of Eden" as a duet. The text was chosen 
from Luke 7:50. "Thy faith hath saved thee." Burial was 
in the family lot in the Union Grove cemetery, and pall 
bearers included Albert Perham, Racine; J. J. Barrows, 
Somers; Chester Barrows, Berryville, and P. W. Dunkirk, 
all relatives, and two neighbors, Claude Price and 
William Morgan.  Out-of-town relatives and friends 
present were Mmes. A. Carey Judd, Coy Kring. Mattie 
Sumpter and son George, Messrs. and Mmes. Harry Sumpter, 
Charles Sumpter and Clarence, Mrs. W. J. Sumpter, Albert 
Perham. Mr. and Mrs. Sophus Nelson Mrs. Randall Judd, 
Charles Judd, Mrs. Darrel Hay, Mr. and Mrs. Charles 
Crabb, Mrs. Ed Veltus, all of Racine; Messrs. and Mmes. 
J. J., Louis, Stanley and Charles Barrows, Somers: 
Chester Barrows, Berryville; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Beecher, 
Lyons: Otis Hulett, Mrs. Rose Blackburn, Burlington; Mrs. 
Emma Meredith, Milwaukee; Mrs. Alvin Barrows, Mrs. Walter 
Hurn, Walter Bohannen, Mrs. Irene De Groot Priddis, 
Kenosha, and Mrs. Hardy Helding, Kellogg's Corners.
