Nevertheless, the said John shall let my son Henry have water therefrom to water the meadows, if it will not interrupt his grinding. Also John shall have half of the cattle, horses, mares, cows, oxen, sheep and hoggs, hens and geese. To my wife, Anna Margaret, and her three children, one son and two daughters, I give the plantation, until the son Henry comes to age, then shall he have the half of the plantation. signed: John Henry Kersen wit: Stephen Messerschmit and Peter Formwold. On March 4, 1725 personally appeared Stephen Messersmitt and Peter Formwold, the witnesses to the within written will and upon their oath did declare that they saw and heard John Henry KERSON, the testator therein named, sign publicly and declare the same as his last will and that at the doing, thereof, he was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge. I, Wm Plumstead, Reg Gen'l, Do hereby certify the forgoing to be a true copy of Last Word and Testament of John Henry Kersen, dec'd. Taken from and compared with the original thereof remaining in the Reg Genl's office at Philadelphia. Give under the seal of ye sd office at Philadelphia this 10th day of April 1761. By order of Wm Plumstead Reg Genl. Widow is administrator with Axe and Messerschmidt: Know all men by these Presents that we, Anna Margaret Kerson, widow, the relict of John Henry Kersten, and John Frederich Axe of Germantown, saddler, and Stephen Messersmith of Oley in the county of Philadelphia, smith, are held and firmly bound unto Peter Evans, Register General for the Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administration in and for the Province of Pennsylvania in the sum of five hundred pounds, lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid to the L. Peter EVANS, his certain attorney executor. administrator or assigns to which payment will and truly to be made, we bind ourselves jointly and forever for and in the whole, our heirs executors and administrators firmly by the presents sealed with our seals dated the Fourth Day of March, Anno Dmi 1725/6. The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above bound Anna Margaret Kerson, administratrix, of all and singular, the good and rights and creditors of the named John Henry Kerson deceased, with the will of the said deceased annexed, do make or desire to be made a true and perfect inventory of the good singular and rights and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come in to the hand or possession of any other person or persons for her and the same so made, or do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Register Gen Office at Philadelphia at or before the Fourth Day of June ---- next and shall also well and truly administer the good and rights and creditors of the deceased according to Law and purport, true intent and meaning of the Will and p the legacies in the same will contained so far forth as the good rights and credits of the said deceased will, thereunto extent, and do also make and render in to the said Office, a true and just account, calculation or reckoning of the administration when thereunto lawfully requested. Then there obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue. Sealed and delivered in the presence of Mary Evans and Jo. Watson. signed: Anne Margaret Kerson (seal) her mark Estate inventory showed a fan to clean corn, 5 milk cows, 2 steers and a bull, 6 2-yr old cattle, 1 yr-old cow; 21 sheep and 14 lambs, 3 working horses, 1 yearling colt, 10 hogs, 12 ducks, 20 fowls, 230 bushels of cleared corn, plow and barrow, and other misc farming tools and implements total value of 198 pounds/10/8. Additional Comments: John Henry KERSEN was married to Anna Margaret FISCHER. They were married in Grumbach, Thurengia in 1703. It is not known if they emigrated to PA with family or if their children were born in PA or enroute. He died sometime before 3/4/1725 when his will was probated in Philadelphia. Tax rolls for Oley in 1734 show Margaet KEARSON with 300 acres. Son John KEARSON with 100 acres -apparently the widow and a son.
