In the Name of God, Amen. I, James Beatty, of East Mahoning Township in the
County of Indiana and State of Pennsylvania, being weak in body, but of sound
mind and disposing memory , and now in the 79th year of my age, do make,
consecrate and ordain this my last will and testament , in manner and form
following, to wit:
First, I recommend my soul to Almighty God, who gave it, nothing doubting but I
shall receive the same at the general resurrection and my body to the earth to be
buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my family and as tending to such
things as it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I dispose of in the
following manner, to wit:
2nd. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Sarah Work, the sum of two hundred
dollars ($200.00)
3rd. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Nancy Work, the sum of two hundred
dollars ($200.00)
4th. I give and bequeath the undivided half of one hundred and eighteen acres
equally among my three daughters , Polly Beatty, Rebeccah Campbell, and Anne
Beatty, share and share alike.
5th. I give and bequeathh my household and kitchen furniture to my daughter
Polly, my son John, , and my daughter Anne, share and share alike.
6th. I give and bequeath to my son John Beatty all my tools and farming utensils
7th. I give and bequeath to my daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Beatty, and her two
sons, James Beatty and Horace Beatty, one dollar each
I also make and ordain my son, Joshua Beatty, and my son in law, Adam
Campbell to be my whole and sole executors of this, my last will and testament,
and I hereby give them full power and authority to have the same executed
according to the true intent and meaning of the same
Signed, sealed , and acknowledged in the presence of us this 12th day of January

Indiana County S.S. Be it remembered that on the 3rd day of March, A.D. 1868
before me, Samuel A. Douglas, deputy Register of Wills, in and for said County,
was duly found and approved the foregoing instrument of writing as and for the
last Will and Testament of James Beatty, deceased, by the oaths of James
McCleary and James F. Martin, subscribing witnesses thereto .
Same day letteres testamentary issued to Adam Campbell and Joshua Beatty, the
executors in said will named, they having been first duly sworn accarding to law.
