The will of Joseph McPherson b. 26 July 1784 (from the bible of Joseph
McPherson, father),the will is that of Joseph McPherson, the son of
Joseph McPherson (1740-1819)

No. 1093 Joseph McPherson

In the name of God amen. I Joseph McPherson of East Mahoning Township
Indiana County and Commonwealth of Pennsyvania being weak in body
but of a sound mind memory and understanding having arrived at the
age of Seventy two years deems it right and proper to make a disposal
of what wordley Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with
or die ? or entitled to and for this purpose do make this my last
will and testament to wit: first it is my will that all my just debts
and funural expenses be paid as soon as convinently can be by my executors
after my decease and sales made of all my personal property not hereby
willed. Item I give and bequeath to my wife Ann all the land I own
for her to have the profits arising therefrom while she remains my
widow and my youngest son under the age of twenty one years at which
time each of my three sons is to have what land I now will to them
to wit all the land I have to be equally divided amongst them. They
giving a support to their mother of said land while she remains my
widow which expense and charge is to be equally borne by my three
sons to whom my land is bequeathed to wit Hugh John and Robert the
children to live with their mother until of age to help carry on the
business of the farm for which she is to give them resonable maintainance
and schooling. I also give and bequeath to my wife Ann all my personal
property of every description except so much as my executors shall
require to make sale of to pay the debts and expenses heretofore cited.
Item I give and bequeath to my two daughters Nancy Jane and Mary Ann
when they arrive at the year of discretion each a goose bedstead feather
bed and bedding. Any money after paying my just debts which shall
fall into the hands of my executors by collection of debts or otherwise
I wish to be retained in their hands and paid to my family from time
to time as they may need it. I hereby nominate constitute and appoint
Charles Bovard and Robert Thompson of High executors of this my last
will and testament to carry into full execution the contents hereof
and do hereby revoke all and every former will bequest and bequeries
by me heretofore made or given and allowing this and no other to be
my will. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at
East Mahoning Township aforesaid the twelth day Sept one thousand
eight hundred and forty nine.

Be it remembered that on the twenty eighth day of February AD one
thousand eight hundred and fifty one, Before me David Peelor, Register
for the probate of wills and granting Letters of Adminisration in
and for the County of Indiana was proved and approve the foregiving
instrument of writing as said for the last will and testament of Joseph
McPherson late of East Mahoning Township Indiana County deceased.
By the Oaths of Allen S Work, Esq and James Bovard the subscribing
witnesses thereto

And now to wit same day Letters Testamentary issued to Charles Bovard
and Robert Thompson the executors therein named who having been duly
sworn according to law
