The last Will and Testament of John Lafferty of the Township of Conemaugh

in the County of Indiana. I John Laffery considering the uncertainty of

this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory (bless be Almighty

God for the same) do make and publish this my last will and testament in

manner and form following (that is to say) I will that all my just debts

as shall be by me owing at my death together with my funeral expences and

and all charges touching the proving of or terurse concerning this my

last will shall in the first place out of my personal estate and affects

fully paid and satisfied. Item, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife

Martha the use of the house I now occupy during her life and all the

household and kitchen furniture, beds and bedding, two cows, six sheep

together with the third of the profits of my Real estate during her life.

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son James Lafferty all my real estate

?y him the said James Laffery paying six hundred dollars to my children

Elizabeth, Robert, Mary and Martha. Item, I give and bequeath to my

Daughter Mary two hundred and forty tree dollars to be paid by my son

James Laffery seventy five of it in one year from my death or the death

of his Mother which ever shall last happen. Item, I give and bequeath

unto my son Robert one hundred and fifty dollars out of my real estate,

seventy five one year after Mary's first installment. Item, I give and

bequeath unto my daughter Martha one hundred and fifty dollars out of my

real property, seventy five of it in one year from the payment of

Robert's first installment. Item, I give and bequeath unto my Daughter

Elizabeth three promisory notes on my Grandson Daniel Steffey now worth

ninety three dollars and fifty seven dollars out of my real estate she

the said Elizabeth to get the motes as her first payment and then the

said James is to commence at Mary and make payment of the balance of the

afore mentioned legacies yearly untill they are all paid. Item, my

personal property after the payment of my just debts and other expences I

give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Martha and my daughter Mary shear

and shear alike. Item, I allow my son James Lafferty in adition to the

six hundred dollars before mentioned to haul and cut at the door a

sufficient quantity of firewood for his Mother during her kife and to do

her Milling. Item, I consider my son John Lafferty to have received a

full dividend of my property from my self and lastly make and ordain my

sons John Lafferty and James Lafferty sole Exacutors of this my last will

and testament, hereby revoking all former wills, In witness whereof I

have hereunto set my hand and seal the twentieth day of May in the year

of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six. John (his mark)

Signed sealed published and declared by the above named John Lafferty to

be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request

and in his presence subscribed our names as witnesses thereunto. Saml

Be it remembered that on the twenty eighth day of June A.S. 1836 Before

me Register for the probate of wills as was duly proved and approved the

last Will and Testament of John Lafferty late of Conemaugh Township

deceased by the oaths of Samuel Templeton and Alexander Templeton the

subscribing witnesses thereto and the same day Letters testamentory were

granted in due form of law to John Lafferty Exacutors therein named who

were duly sworn according to law. W. Dauglass-Register.
