In the Name of God, Amen. l , Robert  Hunter, of the village of Jacksonville, and the
County of Indiana ., being ,being old and infirm , but of a sound mind,  and knowing that
it is appointed for all men to die and after death to come the judgement, do make this ,
my last will and testament.
In the first place, I bequeath my soul to God, who gave it, and my body to the dust, from
whence it came, and at my decease  that my body shall be decently buried, and that all of
my just debts shall be paid , and as for the little property that it has pleased God  to give
me, I allow it to be distributed in the following manner, viz:
I bequeath to Robert S. Hunter, my son,  one half of my property, both real and
personally, him paying the following sums, viz:
To John W. Hunter one dollar in one year following my death, and to James Hunter, one
dollar in two years after my death, and to William B. Hunter , all my sons, to him one
dollar in three years after my death, and to Polly Hunter, my daughter, I bequeath the
other half of my property, both real and personal, by her paying the following sums, viz:
To Betsy Ross, my daughter, one dollar in one year after my death
And to Martha Nesbit, one dollar in two years after my death
And to Margaret Mitchell one dollar in three years after my death
And to Jemima Emerich  one dollar in four years after my death
And Polly Hunter, my wife,  if she should survive me, and live longer than me, shall have
her living off the property, and at her death shall be decently buried at the expense of
Robert and Polly Hunter, my son and daughter, and if Robert is not able to keep the
property, if they are agreed , let them get the property appraised , and put to sale , and the
price of it  to be equally divided between them, and if the property is not sold, that Polly
to have her house as long as she sees fit  to live on it.
And as for the carrying  this will and testament into effect, I appoint James Hunter and
Robert L. Hunter , my sons, executors  to the purpose of carrying  this, my last will and
testament  into effect
Witness my hand and seal this third day of January in the year of our Lord, One
Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Seven. 1857Signed  Robert Hunter
Witnesses present:  Elliot Ferguson  and James Thompson
P.S. If either of the above named , any one of them,  should die, then the property  to fall
to the one that survives. Witness my hand and seal  this third day of January, 1857
