George Emfield Will - 1810 - Indiana County, Volume I, Page 22.
In the name of God Amen I George Emfield of the County of Indiana, being
very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given
unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing and knowing
that it is appointed for all men oust to die Do make and - this my last will
and testament; that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend
my soul into the hand of God Almighty that gave it and my body I recommend to
the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my
Executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive
the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate
where with it hath pleased God to help one in this life, I give demise and
dispose of the same in the following manner and form. After my funeral expenses
and lawful debts are paid First I give and bequeath to Barbara my dearly beloved
wife all my movable property to dispose of as she sees proper, all debts due to
me included and likewise I bequeath all my lands and tenements freely to possessed
and enjoyed during her natural life, and she is to keep and take care of her
children till they are capable of doing for themselves, and after her decease
the land is to sold and the price to be equally divided amongst my children
excepting my daughter Mary I leave and bequeath unto her one dollar to be paid
at her Mothers decease and those of my children that have received any of my
property it is to be considered to them as part of their legacy. I likewise
appoint my well beloved wife Barbara my sole Executor - and I do hereby utterly
disallow revoke and annul all and every other forever Testaments, wills legacies
bequeaths and executors by in any wise before named willed and bequeathed;
ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
In witness where I have here unto set my hand and seal this twenty-second day of
January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten. Signed Sealed
published pronounced and declared by the said George Emfield as his last will and
testament in his presence and in the presence of us who hath here unto Subscribed
our names, Isaac Griffith Alex Telfer. George Emfield (Seal). Be it remembered
that the foregoing will or instrument of writing was duly proved by the subscribing
witness on the 26th day of June 1810 before
