John R. Charlesworth, 88, of Latrobe died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, in Excela
Health, Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1917, in Greensburg, a son
of the late James A. and Mary Etta (Anderson) Charlesworth. Prior to retirement,
John was a teacher for many years with the Greater Latrobe School District. He
was a member of the Latrobe United Methodist Church and the F&AM Westmoreland
Lodge 518 of Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
three sisters, Phyllis Cope, Helen Pickett and Carol Charlesworth, and a
brother, James Charlesworth. He is survived by his wife of more than 62 years,
Helen Altman Charlesworth; two sons, John R. "Jack" Charlesworth Jr. of
Mableton, Ga., and Dennis W. Charlesworth and his wife, Janice, of Montgomery,
Ala.; two grandchildren, Erica and Bradley Charlesworth; a brother, David
Charlesworth and his wife, Nancy, of Greensburg; a brother-in-law, Lester Cope
of Greensburg; a sister-in-law, Margaret Charlesworth of Greensburg, and a
number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Monday in Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with his
pastor, the Rev. Aimee W. Twigg, officiating. Interment will follow in
Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Members of F&AM
Westmoreland Lodge 518 will hold a Masonic service 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral
home.
