Evelyn Ruth Brosnick Cackowski, 80, of Greensburg passed away Sunday, Feb. 23,
2014, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. She was born Dec. 1, 1933, in
Greensburg, a daughter of the late Jennie (Marol) and Andrew Brosnick Sr. Evelyn
was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and enjoyed her country and polka
music. She worked as a waitress and cashier for the former Marie's Diner in
Greensburg. Besides her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband,
Marion Michael Cackowski; son Curtis M. Cackowski; sister Mary Johnson and
husband Ben; sister Helen B. Nagel; brother Andrew Brosnick Jr., brother George
Brosnick and wife Betty; sister Agnes Amole and husband Ken, and brothers
Joseph, Paul and William Brosnick. Surviving are her son David M. Cackowski;
sisters Irene Noel and husband John "Jack" and Pauline Tometsko and husband Bill
and brother Albert Brosnick, all of Greensburg; sister-in-law, Rose Brosnick,
and brother-in-law, Russell Nagel, both of Latrobe, and numerous nieces and
nephews. Family and friends will be received 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Kepple-
Graft Funeral Home Inc., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Parting prayers will take
place 9 a.m. Friday in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m.
in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 300 N. Main St., Greensburg. Interment will
follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Terence L. Graft,
funeral director, entrusted with the arrangements.
