Bitner, 73, of 50 W Weldon St., Latrobe, died Monday morning at home. Born in Derry Feb. 21, 1905, he was a son of the late Thomas W. and Mary Jane Hysong Bitner. He was a member of Latrobe United Methodist Church, BPOE 907 of Latrobe and the Westmoreland County, State and National Teachers Association. He taught school in the Derry Township School District for 10 years and the Greater Latrobe School District for 27 years, retiring from teaching in June, 1970. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Julia Householder Bitner; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Sara Jane) Lowe of Fairborn, Ohio; one grandson; one brother, J. Francis of Canoga Park, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Louise McCullough of Redwood Valley, Calif. Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in M.S. Hartman Funeral Home, Latrobe. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Paul M. Easter D.D., officiating.
