Karl F. Burkhart Jr., 56, of Latrobe RD4 (Unity Township) died Tuesday, Oct. 26,
2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 2, 1948, in Latrobe, a son of Karl F.
Burkhart Sr. of Latrobe RD4 and the late Anna H. Hayes Burkhart. He had worked
at HBD Hydro Carbide and was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church,
both in Youngstown. A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam era, he
was a member of Frontier Club, Kingston Veteran's and Sportsman's Association,
Youngstown Firemen's Club and Unity Township American Legion Post 982. In
addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Brook Alan Burkhart,
and a sister, Linda L. Burkhart. In addition to his father, he is survived by
his wife, Linda Kay Stile Burkhart; a son, Shawn Burkhart and wife, Karen, of
Bradenville; two grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Jane; a sister, Karol Liptak
of Chicago, Ill., and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 7 to
9 p.m. Wednesday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Gaut-Bacha Funeral Home
Inc., Pleasant Unity. A prayer will be held 9:15 a.m. Friday in the funeral
home, followed by funeral service to be held 10 a.m. in St. James Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Youngstown, with the Rev. Dr. David P. von Schlichten
officiating. Military service and interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity
Township.
