I Adam EGOLF of the Township of Pottsgrove in the County of Montgomery and
State of Pennsylvania do make and publish this my last will and testament, here-
by revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

First - I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Anna, all my property,
real, personal and mixed, of what nature or kindsoever, and wheresoever the 
same shall be at the time of my death during all the term of her natural life.  

And after the death of my said wife, I do order and direct that my executors 
hereinafter named, or the survivors of them, shall as soon as conveniently may
be sell and dispose of at either public or private sale, all my said property, 
real, personal, and mixed to such person or persons, and for such price or 
prices, as may be reasonably gotten for the same, and for that purpose, I do
hereby authorize and empower my said executers or the survivors of them to 
sign, seal, execute, and acknowledge all such deed or deeds of conveyance, as
may be requisite and necessary for the granting and issuing the same to the 
purchase or purchasers thereof, in fee simple. 

And the moneys arising from such sale or sales I do direct to be divided unto
six equal shares, as follows.:

Item, One sixth part thereof I give devise and bequeath to my eldest son John, 
his heirs and assigns forever.

Item, One sixth part thereof I give devise and bequeath to my grandsons and 
granddaughters, William ROTH, Henry  ROTH, Daniel ROTH, Adam ROTH, Rachel 
REIFSNYDER, wife of Jeremiah REIFSNYDER, late Rachel ROTH, and Mary Ann ROTH, 
children of my eldest daughter Margaret, now deceased, who was intermarried 
with Charles ROTH, share and share alike their heirs and assigns forever.

Item, One sixth part thereof I give devise, and bequeath to my second oldest 
son Aaron, his heirs and assigns forever.

Item, One sixth part thereof I give devise, and bequeath to my second oldest 
daughter Rachel her heirs and assigns forever.

Item, One sixth part thereof I give, devise, and bequeath to my third oldest
daughter Mary Ann, her heirs and assigns forever.

Item, One sixth part thereof I give, devise, and bequeath to my youngest 
daughter Sarah, now intermarried with Peter LINDERMAN, her heirs and assigns 
forever.

And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my said sons John EGOLF and 
Aaron EGOLF and my said daughters Rachel and Mary Ann EGOLF and Sarah 
Linderman late Sarah EGOLF to be the executors and executrix of this my last 
will and testament.  

In witness whereof, I Adam EGOLF, the testator have to 
this my will written on one sheet of paper, set my hand and seal this twenty 
sixth day of August AD one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven.

Accounts Settlement filed June 11, 1873

The first and final account of John EGOLF, Adam EGOLF, Rachel EGOLF, Mary Ann 
EGOLF and Sarah Linderman Executors of the last will and testament of Adam 
EGOLF, late of the Township of Pottsgrove in the county of Montgomery deceased.

Debits - 1873
The said accountants charge themselves as follows, viz:  To amount for farm 
situate in Pottsgrove Township and two wood lots situate in North Coventry 
Township, Chester County....$1,200.00.  To amount of personal property sold $276
To amount of cash on hand [of] $2,059.07.  [Total].........$14,335.07

Credits - 1870
By cash paid John S. Brad[ford] for making grave - $5.50; James S. Fillman 
for coffin - $32.00; for Register of wills for letters testamentary - $12.50; 
cash paid to Reifsnyder & S---- for tomb stone - $50.00;  cash paid to John B. 
Reifsnyder for survey - $1.00; cash paid William Slinaker for meat - $14.00;  
cash paid Wm. Auchenbach for groceries - $5.40; Cash paid Mahlin Rimby for 
coffin for widow - $40.75; Cash Reifsynder & S--- for tomb stone for widow - 
$50.00; for John S. Bradford for making grave for widow - $5.50; Chris Sch---
for meat - $6.00; W. Auchenbach for groceries - $5.42; for making statement 
of this account - $2.50; Register for filing this account - $12.50.  [Total] - 
$230.07  [Contributors note: addition here is in error, it should be $243.07, 
however the $230.07  was accepted]

Balance due to estate of $13,105.

Contributors Note:  ADAM EGOLF lived his whole life in the Pottsgrove Twp., 
Montgomery County, PA area.  In the 1850 census, he was listed as age 66, and
a farmer with a property value of $8,800.  He was first son of (John) Michael 
EGOLF (1754-1847), who was the third son of 1738 German immigrant George 
Adam EGOLF (1720-1795).   Adam's beloved wife, Anna, was Anna Maria MOSER
(B.12-11-1787 D. 11-22-1872). As the account settlement (showing costs for
a grave, coffin, and tombstone for both Adam and his widow) indicate Adam and
his beloved Anna were deceased by 1873.

The children of Adam and Anna (Moser) Egolf were:  Johan Michael (5-5-1810);
Margaretha (b. 8-18-1812); Aaron (b.12-1813); Maria Anna (b.12-28-1818); Sarah
(b.9-30-1824) and Rachel (b.c.1825).

The ROTH grandchildren referred to in the will were the children of deceased 
daughter Margaretta EGOLF (b.8-18-1812 d. 1856 age 44)  who was married to 
Charles August ROTH.  Henry E. RHOADS, son of Charles and Margaretta (EGOLF)
ROTH is the subject of the book "ROTH-RHOADS: The Descendants of Henry 
E. and Sarah Ann (REIFSNYDER) RHOADS" by Melvin H. "Buck" RHOADS, 
Paul L. RHOADS, and Elizabeth L. YARNALL, published by the Rhoads family in
January of 1993.
