  Daily Pottstown Ledger, Tues, July 24, 1900
  Augustus L. Bechtel, of Stowe, died at 3:30 yesterday afternoon, aged 67 years.
  The direct cause of his death was inflamation of the bowels super-induced by the
  excessive heat of last week. He became ill on Friday last, but was not compelled
  to take his bed until about 9 o'clock on the morning of the day he died. He was
  an old and estimable citizen and ex-school director of Pottsgrove township, and
  was employed as an engineer at the Warwick Iron Company. Mr. Bechtel is survived
  by a wife, Catherine, and the following children: Ephraim, of Kenilworth;
  Hannah, wife of George S. Malsberger, of Pottstown; Jefferson, of Stowe; John,
  of Pottstown; Emma, wife of William Sassaman, of Bramcote; Rosa, wife of Irvin
  Scheffey, of Pottstown; Richard, of Stowe; and Morris, living at home. Hannah,
  wife of Ephraim Yergey, of Glasgow, is the only surviving sister. Mrs. Jacob
  Miller, who died July 6, in this borough, was also a sister.
