Last Will and Testament of Johann Ludewig Wissinger

In the name of God Amen, I Lodowick Wisinger of Fredrick County in the State of 
Maryland, being sick and weak of body, but of sound mind and memory and calling 
to mind the uncertainty of this life, and that all men must die, having first 
recommending my soul into the hand of Almighty God, that thro the intercession 
of my blessed Jesus in whom I trust that it may be received into the regions of 
the blessed, and the things of this life I desire to despose of as follows: 
First I give unto my beloved wife Catherine, my best bed and furniture with a 
new blanket, one chest, two cows, one spinning wheel, six new pewterplates, six 
pewter spoons, one pepper mill, one copper coffee pot, six cups, one iron pot, 
one frying pan, one pair tongs and shovel, one pokerrack, one milk pail with 
handle, one chair, all my hops I have now in the house, all the grain I have now 
in the house, and the grain in the field that is now growing, one Bible, three 
knives and forks, and the use of my dwelling plantation for and during her 
natural life, except two acres hereof which belongs to my son, Peter. Secondly 
after the death of my wife I give and bequeath unto all my sons and daughters, 
share and share alike, all the remainder of my personal estate, and the real-
estate wherewith I am possessed, to be shared in like manner agreeable to the 
purpose and tenor of my son Peter Wisinger's bond. And lastly, I nominate and 
appoint my loving wife Catherine my whole and sole executrix, ratifying and 
confirming this my last Will and Testament and no other.Sealed with my seal and 
signed this 11th day of March 1779.

Signed and sealed and acknowledge in the presence of
John Smith, Jacob Kitchendonner and Jacob Smith.

Frederick County, May 8, 1779

Then came Catharine Wissinger and made oath on the holy Evangelist of Almighty 
God that the aforegoing is the true and the whole Will and Testament of Lodowick 
Wisinger late of Frederick, County deceased, that hath come to her hands and 
possession and that she doth not know of any other.

Then came John Smith, Jacob Kitchendonner and Jacob Smith the three subscribing 
witness to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of Lodowick Wisinger late of 
County of Frederick deceased and severally made oath on the holy Evangelist of 
Almighty God that they did see the Testator herein named sign and seal this 
Will, that they heard him publish and announce and declare the same to be his 
last Will and Testament, that at that time of his so doing he was to the best of 
their apprehensions of sound and disposing hand mind and memory and 
understanding, that they respectively subscribe their names as witness to this 
Will and in the presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence 
of each other.
