The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Will of WILLIAM WINCHESTER, filed in Frederick Co, MD, dated 14 May 1784, proved 7 Oct 1790 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the Name of God, Amen I William Winchester Sen r of Frederick County in the State of Maryland being in perfect health of body and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence do therefore make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say; First and principally I commit my soul unto the hands of Almighty God, and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors herein after named, and after my debts and funeral charges are paid I devise and bequeath as follows viz. Item. I give and devise unto my dear wife Lydia my plantation whereon I now dwell to her for and during her natural life. I allso give and devise unto her all my personal property except what is hereafter bequeathed to her, her heirs and assigns for ever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catherine ten guineas to be paid by my executor herein after named at twelve month after the decease of my wife Lydia. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary ten guineas to be paid by my executor herein after named at twelve month after the decease of my wife Lydia and no more of my estate, in like manner my daughter Catherine is to have no more of my estate. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter in law Mary Winchester ten guineas as above is expressed to be paid. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth one riding horse saddle and bridle allso one feather bed and furniture, allso one cow and one hundred pounds current money to be paid by my executor herein after named at the end of twelve months of the decease of my wife and sooner if convenient. I give and bequeath to my daughter Lydia one riding horse saddle and bridle and one cow, and one feather bed and furniture and allso one hundred pounds current money to be paid by my executor herein after named at twelve months after the decease of my wife and sooner if convenient. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son David one house and lott in Westminister Town in Frederick State of Maryland said lott being known in the Plan of said Town by the Number (41) allso the reversion, and reversions of all rents taxes, and profits arising out of and from said Town. I allso give and bequeath unto my said son David one riding horse saddle and bridle to the value of thirty pounds current money to him his heirs and assigns for ever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my two sons Richard and Stephen jointly all that my moiety or half part of part of a tract of land called The Addition to Loveall s Prospect situate on the Falls of Patapsco River in Baltimore County said half part contains twenty five acres of land as of deed to them the said Richard and Stephen their heirs and assigns for ever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son William three hundred pounds current money to be paid him or his heirs by my executor hereafter named at twelve months after the decease of my wife and no more of my estate. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son James one hundred and fifty pounds current money to be paid him by my executor at twelve months after the decease of my wife and no more of my estate. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son George one hundred and fifty pounds current money to be paid him by my executor at twelve months after the decease of my wife an no more of my estate. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Richard one hundred and fifty pounds current money to be paid him by my executor at twelve months after the decease of my wife an no more of my estate. Item. I give and bequeath after the paying and satisfying the above bequests all the rest and residue of my estate both real and personall unto my son Stephen to him his heirs and assigns for ever. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons William and Stephen to be executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last Will and Testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fourteenth day of May Anno Domini Seventeen Hundred and Eighty four. Signed sealed published and declared by William Winchester the above named testator as & for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who Wm. Winchester at his request and in his presence have sub- scribed our names as witnesses thereto.
