In the name of God, Amen. I Jacob Snook of Frederick County in the state of
Maryland being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind menory and
understanding considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time
thereof and being desirous to settle all my worldy affairs and thereby be the
better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence,
do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form
following that is to say
First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my
body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor,
hereinafter named, and after my debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise and
bequeath as follows.
To my beloved wife Teresa Ann Snook I give and bequeath my house & lot in which
we now reside in Dublin Village, together with all the personal property in said
house and on said lot to have and to hold, during her widowhood or while she
remains my widow.
I also give and bequeath to my beloved wife Teresa Ann Snook all the interest
arising or accruing from my notes, bonds, or otherwise for her own use and
benefit during her widowhood or while she remains my widow.
And it is further my intention should she never marry that she have the benefit
of said Real, personal & interest from notes or bonds during her life.
And should it so happen by loss or otherwise that the interest from my notes
should not be sufficient to maintain her (always provided that she lives
economical) in that case I make it discretionary with my executor to collect and
back back to her as much as he may see necessary for her maintenance.
And if my wife Teresa Ann Snook should marry after my death then I direct that
my Executor herinafter named shall sell all my real and personally property,
collect my money and pay to my wife Teresa Ann Snook the sum of one hudnred
dollars an dgive her one bedstead and bedding one {beanna}, half dozen chairs,
one rocking chair, one stove six quilts (of her make) She to select said
property from among my personal property.
And I farther give and bequeath in case my wife should marry that after the
forgoing bequests are made, heretofore mentioned, then that my Estate or the
residue thereof be equally divided, share & share alike between my wife Teresa
Ann Snook, my two brothers Daniel Snook and Simon Snook and my three sisters
Elizabeth Ramsburg, Lydia Ramsburg, and Maria Houck each one to share alike.
Ad I do hereby constitue and appoint my friend Joseph Cronise sole Executor of
this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills and testamenst
made by me.
In testimony whereof, I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty
seventh day of January in the year eighteen hundred and sixty eight.

as my last will and testament in the presence of us, and each of us.
