    In the name of God. Amen.  I Thomas Powell Sen of Frederick County in the 
Province of Maryland, Farmer, being of health of Body & of perfect Mind & 
memory to this day blessed be the Almighty God for the same.  But calling to 
mind the uncertainty of the present life do make and ordain this present 
writing to be my Last Will and Testament in manner & form following: that is 
to say. First my soul I give up to Almighty God & my Body to the Earth from 
whence it came to be decently buried in a Christian like Manner.  And as to 
my worldly Goods and Effects that it hath  pleased Almighty God to bless me 
with after my just Debts are paid I give and bequeath them in the manner and 
form following.  That is to say, Item First I appoint & ordain my beloved Son 
George Powell my whole & sole Executor ____ and pay off all my just Debts & 
Legalies.  Item  Secondly I give and Bequeath my Dear Wife Sarah Powell one 
third part of my personal Estate.  Item  Thirdly I give and bequeath to my 
beloved Son George Powell my Tract of Land called Beddlesons Content, 
containing forty seven and a half acres, also a Tract of Land called 
Smith_burgh containing fifty acres, also a Tract of Land called hopewell 
containing two hundred acres.  Also I give & bequeath to my beloved Son 
George Powell two third parts of my personal Estate.  Item  Fourthly  I give 
and bequeath to my beloved Daughter Elizabeth Cheney five Shillings Current 
Money & no more   Item  Fifty I give and bequeath unto the Heirs of my 
beloved Son John Powell five Shillings Current Money and no more.  Item   
Sixthly I give & bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Mary Mackelfish five 
Shillings Current Money and no more.  Item  Seventhly  I give and bequeath 
unto my Beloved Daughter Ann Jasper five Shillings Current Money and no more. 
 Item  Eigthly  I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son Thomas Powell five 
Shillings Current Money & no more.
Item  Ninthly I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son Joseph Powell Fifty 
pounds Current Money Current Money & no more it to be paid by
my beloved Son George Powell unto my beloved Son Joseph Powell when he shall 
come to the age of eighteen years.  Item  Tenthly I give and bequeath unto my 
beloved Daughter Sarah Powell fifty pounds Current Money and no more, it is 
to be paid to my beloved Daughter Sarah Powell by my beloved Son Joseph 
Powell when [she] shall come to the age of sixteen years.  Item  Eleventhly  
I give & bequeath Daughter Rachel Powell Fifty pounds Current Money to be 
paid to my Said Daughter Rachel Powell by my said Son George Powell when she 
shall come to the age of sixteen years & no more. 
Item  Twelfthly  I give & bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Mary Powell fifty 
Pounds Current Money & no more to be paid unto my said Daughter Mary Powell 
by my said Son George Powell when she shall come to the age of Sixteen years. 
 Item  Thirteenthly   I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son John Powell by 
my second Wife Fifty pounds Current Money and no more, to be paid unto my 
said Son John Powell by my said Son Joseph Powell at the age of sixteen years 
of age.  Item  Fourteenthly  I give & bequeath unto my Dear Child that my 
Dear Wife is great __ with Fifty pounds Current Money if it should live to 
the age aforesaid and no more.  Item  Fifteenthly  I also order and Desire 
that if my Son George Powell should die & leave no Issue, then I desire that 
my Dear Son Joseph Powell should be his Heir to act & enjoy the same as  he 
should do if he was there present.  Item   Sixteenthly & Lastly: I revoke and 
disannull all or any other Will or Wills heretofore made by me in Witness 
whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my Seal this twenty sixth 
October 1775.
