In the Name of God Amen the Second Day of February in the year of our Lord one 
thousand seven hundred & seventy-six.  I Catherine Neff of Frederick County in 
the Province of Maryland long sick & weak in Body but of perfect Mind & many 
thanks be given unto God therefore, calling unto Mind the mortality of my Body & 
knowing that it is appointed for all Mankind once to die do make and ordain this 
my Last Will & Testament, [try again later] & first of all I give & recommend my 
Soul unto God that gave it & for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be 
buried in a Christian like and decent Manner at the Discretion of my Executors, 
nothing doubting but at General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by 
the almighty power of God, and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath 
pleased God to bless me with in ths Life I give devise and dispose fo the same 
one the following Manner & Firm:
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto John Neff my Son all my personal Estate 
excepting what shall be hereafter mentioned.  Item I give to my Son Jacob Neff 
one Shilling Sterling and no more; & unto my Daughter Margaret six pounds 
Current Money to be paid at or before the first Day of May next.  I give to my 
Son Henry Neff six pounts Current Money to be paid at or before the first Day of 
May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & seventy-seven.  I give 
to my Daughter Easter six pounds Current Money to be paid at or before the first 
Day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & seventy-eight.  
I give to my son Francis Neff six pounds Current Money to be paid at or before 
the first Day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & 
seventy-nine. I give to my son Adam Neff six pounds Current Money to be paid at 
or before the first Day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven 
hundred eighty.  It is my will that my Son John shall pay all the above said 
Legacys as they become due.  I constitute make ordain and appoint my Son John 
Neff my only and sole executor of this my Last Will and Testament.  I ratify & 
confirm this & no other to be my last Will &Testament: In Witness wherefo I have 
hereunto set my Hand & Seal the day and year above Written.
