In the name of God Amen.  

I, George Hinkle, of Frederick County in the State of Maryland, being of sound 
and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of 
death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my 
worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it 
shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last 
will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, 

First and principally, I commit my soul in the hands of Almighty God, and my 
body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix, 
hereinafter named.  I will and direct that Charles Smith, my grandson-in-law, be 
the agent for my Executrix in my estate and after my debts and funeral carges 
[sic] are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows, to wit:

Item 1st I give and bequeath to my daughters Sophia and Catharina, all my estate 
both real and personal jointly, sharing equal and alike, and after the death of 
my daughter Sophia, what is left of her shear and estate, after her funeral 
expences is paid I give and bequeath the same to the children of Charles Smith's 
present wife;

Item 2nd It is my will and I direct that after the death of my daughter 
Catharine whatever estate or legacy yet remains in her possession, I give the 
same to my daughter Charlotte's two children, Francis and Thomas.

Item 3rd I do hereby constitute and appoint my daughter Catharine, to be my sole 
executrix of this my last will and Testament.

In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand, and affix my seal this 23 day of 
February in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seventy four

Signed, sealed, published and declared by George Hinkle the above named Testator 
as for for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request 
and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses 
thereto.
