Will of Christian Coon

Frederick County, Maryland

     In The Name of God Amen I Christian Coon of Frederick County & 
State of Maryland being in perfect Health & of sound disposing mind 
memory & understanding Thanks be to God do make ordain this my last 
will and Testament in manner and form following to wit.
     Imprimis it is my will and I do order that in the first place all 
my Just Debts and funeral charges be paid and Satisfied by my Executors 
hereinafter named__
     Item I Give and bequeath unto my son Christian Coon all that Tract 
of Land whereon I now live called Shroyers Blessing to him his heirs 
and Assigns forever  Also my still and other Impliments thereto 
belonging  Also my House Clock Desk Kitchen Cupboard one Old Waggon & 
G__ers for four horses and also my Ploughs and Harrows__
     Item I Give and bequeath unto my son Henry Coon his heirs and 
Assigns forever all that part of a Tract or parcel of Land called Johns 
Delight and also a Tract of Land called content both Situated lying and 
being in Frederick County aforesaid__
     Item I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Gertrout Cypher wife 
John Cypher All that Tract or parcel of Land called Kerr's Resolve for 
and during her natural life and after her Decease to be Equally Divided 
between the Children of the said Gertrout Cypher or the Survivors of 
them their heirs and Assigns forever__
     Item I Give and bequeath unto the children of my Daughter Lovice 
(Deceased) Wife of Henry Grove the sum of Forty pounds in Gold or 
Silver Currency each to be paid them by my son Christian Coon as 
follows my grand Daughter Mary grove's Legacy to be paid her one year 
after my Decease my Grand Daughter Betsey Grove's Legacy to be paid her 
two years after my Decease my Grand Daughter Rebecca Grove's Legacy to 
be paid her three years after my Decease my Grand son Joseph Grove's 
Legacy to be paid him four Years after my Decease and my Grand Daughter 
Cathrine Grove's Legacy to be paid her five Years after my Decease 
provided Nevertheless that if any of the children of my Daughter Lovice 
as aforesaid Should Die before they receive their Legacies as aforesaid 
then his her or their parts shall be equally Divided between the 
Survivors of them 
     Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Elisabeth all my 
Houshold Goods of every kind (except the Goods bequeathed to my son 
Christian Coon as aforesaid) Also my Horses Cattle & Sheep during her 
natural life And after my wifes decease the aforesaid Household goods 
Houses, Cattle & Sheep to be Equally Divided between my son Christian & 
Henry & the Children of my Daughter Lovice & my Daughter Gertrout or 
the Survivors of them__ Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson 
Christian the Sum of Fifty Pounds in gold or Silver Currency to be paid 
by my Executors herein after named when he Arrives at the Age of Twenty 
one Years out of the Monies due me on Notes & Bonds And the residue of 
all unapropriated Monies to be equally Divided between my son Christian 
and Henry and the children of my Daughter Lovice and my Daughter 
Gertrout or the Survivors of them respectively.
     And Lastly I constitute make and ordain my son Henry & my son in 
Law Henry Groff Executors of this my last will and Testament & I do 
hereby utterly disannul all & every other former Testaments wills 
Legacies & Executors by me in any ways before this time named willed & 
Bequeathed ratifying and confirming this & no other to be my last will 
and Testament   In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and 
Affixed my seal the Twenty first day of May one thousand seven hundred 
and Ninety five

Frederick County fsd  February 5th 1806 Then came Henry Kuhn and Henry 
Groff and made Oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that the 
foregoing Instrument of writing is the True whole will and Testament of 
Christian Coon or Kuhn late of Frederick County Deceased that hath come 
to their hands and possession and that they do not know any Other.

Frederick County fsd  February 5th 1806.  Then came Tobias Butler and 
William Ritchie two of the Subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing last 
will and Testament of Christian Coon or Kuhn late of Frederick County 
Deceased and made Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they 
did see the Testator therein named Sign & Seal this will that they 
heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last will 
and Testament  That at the time of his so doing he was to the best of 
their Apprehensions of a sound and disposing mind memory and 
understanding that they respectively Subscribed their names as 
witnesses to this will in the presence and at the request of the 
Testator And that they did also see Richard Butler the other 
subscribing Witness Sign his name as a Witness to said will in the 
presence and at the request of the Testator and all in the presence of 
each Other
