In the name of God Amen I Matthew Clark of the County of Frederick & province of
Maryland being of Perfect mind & Memory blessed be God for the same & Calling to
mind the Mortality of my Body & knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to
die do make and Appoint this my Last Will and Testament that is to say first of
all I do recommend my Spirit to God that gave it & my Body to the Earth to be
buried by my Executors in a Christian like and decent Manner nothing doubting
but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mightly
power of God; and as touching what worldly Estate it hath pleased God to bless
me with in this Life I give bequeath and dispose of the same in the following
Manner and Form Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Elizabeth as
long as she doth Continue my Widow the full Interest & Use of all my Estate
remaining after all my just Debts are first paid and all the Legacies hereafter
mentioned & willed are paid off and discharged and also the Interest of the
whole Estate untill such Legacies doth become due I do leave wholly to her & her
Heirs forever, for and during the Time that she doth continue my Widow, and if
she marries after my Disceass this my Will and desire that she have the whole
Interest and Use as aforesaid untill the Day of such marriage & also one hundred
pounds of the principal Estate paid to her & no more as her full part out of the
whole Estate in Case of Marriage to her and her Heirs forever--- Item. I give
and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah White & her Heirs forever five Shillings
sterling to be paid unto her by my Executors out of my Estate after my Deceass
whn legally demanded of them and no more. Item I give and bequeath to my three
Grand Daughters Sarah Clark Isabella Clark and Elizabeth Clark Thirty pounds
each to them & their Heirs forever it being further my Will and Desire that my
Executor as the said Children doth arrive to the Age of sixteen years shall put
each of their Legacies being thirty Pounds out to Interest & that my Executors
shall collect & Pay the Interest arising from the said Legasies yearly unto the
said three Children and as each doth arrive to the full Age of twenty years to
pay them the said Principles of thirty pounds each; and if either of these
Children should die before they arrive to the full Age of sixteen or afterwards
without Legitimate Issue that then it is my Will and desire that her part shall
be equally divided to the other two; and if two should die the third to have the
whole of the three Leagacies and if all decease without Issue as aforesaid the
said Legacies to be deemed a part of my Estate and to be disspossed of as the
Remainder of my Estate after all my Leagacies are paid off. Item I give and
bequeath unto my Grandson James Clark and his Heirs forever one hundred pounds
to be put to interest by my Executors when he doth arive to the full age of
sixteen years & when he doth arive to the full age of Twenty one the said
Principle Sum & five years Interest therein to pay and discharge unto him and if
he should die before he doth arives to the age of twenty one Leaveing no
legitimate Issue the said Legacy shall then fall to his surviving Sisters if any
being to be equally Divided amongst them and if they are all Dead then to be
Divided as the Remainder of my Estate hereafter directed. I give and bequeath to
my Grandson James White Junr to him and his Heirs forever Twenty pounds to be
paid to him by my Executors when he arives to the full age of twenty one years
with two years Interest thereon and if he should die before he arives to that
Age without Issue it is then my will and desire that the said Leagacy shall be
equally divided amongst Brothers & Sisters if any surviving and if none to be
equally divided amongst the surviving Children of Joseph Clark and if none
surviving then to be dispossed of as the Remainder of my Estate after the
Leagacies are all paid off. Item I do give and bequeath unto John Ingraham & his
Heirs forever Forty pounds to be paid him Immediately after my Dicease. Item It
is also my Will and desire that after all my Debts are paid & all my Leagacies
abovementioned are paid off and fully discharged that the Remainder of all my
Estate shall continue in the Possession of my beloved Wife for and during her
natural Life if she continues my Widow in manner and for the uses above devised,
and that at her dicease or on her Day of Marriage which ever may first happen,
that then it is my Will and Desire & I do hereby give all the whole and full
Remainder of my whole Estate Goods and Chattels and all my ridy money Bonds,
Bills Notes and Accots. & every thing that is mine, unto John Ingrham and all my
surviving Grand Children to be equally divided amongst them to the use of them
and their Heirs forever. Lastly I do constitute and hereby appoint John Ingrham
and Elizabeth my beloved Wife my whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will
and Testament hereby revoking disalving and hereby disanulling all other
Bequests Wills and Legacies. Ratifying this and no other to be my Last Will and
Testament In Witness whereof I have herunto set my Hand and affixed my Seal this
Sixth Day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and
seventy two.

Signed Sealed published and pronounced by the said Mathew Clark abovenamed to be
his Last Will and Testament in the presence of Jas. Smith Thos. Smith Robert
Smith
On the 20th Day of November 1772 Came James Smith and Robert Smith two of the
subscribing Witnesses to the aforegoing Will & made Oath on the holy Evangels of
Almighty God that they did see the Testator Matthew Clark sign and Seal the said
Will & heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his Last Will and
Testament & that at the Time of his so doing he was to the best of their
Knowledge and belief of a sound and disposing Mind & Memory & that they did see
Thomas Smith the other subscribing Witness to the said Will sign his Name as a
Witness thereto, & that they severally subscribed their Names as Witnesses to
the said Will in presence of the Testator & in the presence of each other.
