Last Will and Testament of Susannah Carlisle

some parts of the will were extremely difficult to read. Witnesses names were
deciphered as well as possible.
In the name of God Amen I Susannah Carlisle of Frederick County, in the State of
Maryland, being sick and weak in body, but of sound and disposing mind memory
and understanding considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the
time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, and thereby be
the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me
hence, do therefore, make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner
and form following, that is to say
First and principally I commit my soul unto the hands of Almighty God, and my
body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor
hereinafter named, and after my debts and funeral charges are paid I devise and
bequeath as follows.
I give and bequeath unto Alden Carlyle if he shall be living at the time of my
decease one bedstead and bedding if he shall not be living my will and desire is
that it shall belong to my brother David Dudderan [?Dudderane?]
I give and bequeath the whole residue of my Estate to my brother David Dudderan
his heirs and assigns.
And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my Law brother David Dudderan to
be sole Executor of this my last will and Testament, revoking and annulling all
former wills by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and none other
to be my last Will and Testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and affixed my seal this twenty fifth day of May in the year of our Lord
One thousand and eight hundred and thirty five.
Signed, Sealed, published and declared by Susannah Carlyle the above named
Testator [?] for her last Will and testament in the presence of us, who at her
request, in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our
names in witness thereto
David W. Knell Levi Z. Baines [?unclear] David Dudderan[?name unclear]
State of Maryland, Frederick County To wit
On the 23d day of August, 1836 came David Dudderan and made oath on the
Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the foregoing Instrument of writing is the
whole will and Testament of Susannah Carlyle late of Frederick County, deceased,
that has come to his hand and possession, that he received the same from John
Dudderan for safe keeping and that he does not know of any other of a later
date.

State of Maryland, Frederick County, to wit
On the 23d day of August, 1836 came Levi Z. Baines [?] and David
Dudderan[?] two subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will and Testatment of
Susannah Carlyle deceased and under oath on the holy Evangely of Almighty God
that they did see the Testatrix therein named sign and seal this will. That
they did see her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last will and
Testament. That at the time of her so doing, she was to the best of their
apprehensioning of a sound and disposing mind memory and understanding. That
they respectively subscribed their names as witnesses thereto, at the request of
the Testatrix and in her presence and that they did also see David W. Naill, the
other subscribing witness subscribe his name as witness thereto at the request
of theTestatrix and in her presence and all in the presence of each other.
