Will of Andrew Alexander, Frederick Co. Maryland 1889
In the name of God, Amen.
I, Andrew Alexander, in the County of Frederick and state of Maryland, being of
sound and disposing mind and memory do make, publish and declare this to be my
last Will and Testament, hereby making all former Wills by me at any time
heretofore made.
And as my worldly estate and all the property, real, personal or mixed of which,
I shall die seized and possess or to which I shall be entitled at the time of
my decease, I divide, bequest and dispose of in the said manner.
My will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall by my Executor
hereinafter named be paid out of my Estate as soon after my decease or shall by
there be found convenient.
I will, order and direct that my Executors hereinafter named shall sell at
public sale or private sale under an order of the Orphans Court of Frederick
County all my property both, real, personal and mixed or any reasonable time
after my decease that they may think desirable and divide the proceeds of such
sale in the manner following.
I bequeath to my two grandchildren (namely) William Henry Smelser and Ella May
Smelser, the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars each, which shall be kept in
the hands of my son, Andrew S. Alexander until they become of lawful age to
receive the same, with interest thereon at the rate of three percent per annum;
I will and bequeath to my wife, Olevia Ann Alexander, one fourth the remainder
to be paid to her in lieu of her dower. The balance remaining ; I will, order
and direct shall be divided equally share and share alike between my children
(namely) Laura Catherine Baker, Anna Olevia Lookingbill, Emily Jane Isabella
Dayhoff, Andrew S. Alexander, Edward D. Alexander, Margaret Ellen Alexander,
Rosa Alice Cassell, Frances Cordelia Wilson, Martha Virginia Crumrine, Reuben H.
I. Alexander, Caroline Elizabeth Koons, and Susannah Ruth Boone.
And lastly, I do nominate and appoint, Peter Lugenbeel and Andrew S. Alexander
to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
In witness hereof, I, the said Andrew Alexander have to this my last will and
testament, consisting of One sheet of paper, subscribed my name and affixed my
seal this Twenty First day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and eighty nine.

his last Will and Testament in this the presence of us who at his request in his
presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as
witnesses there unto.

On this 10 th day of September, 1889, came Peter Lugenbeel and made oath on the
Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the aforegoing instrument is the true last
Will and Testament of Andrew Alexander, late of Frederick County deceased, that
has come to his hands and possession; that he perceived the same from the
Testators for safekeeping, and that he does not know of any other later date.
In the Orphans Court of Frederick County
The Court, after having carefully examined the above last will and
testament of Andrew Alexander, late of Frederick County, deceased, together and
also the evidence addresses as to it's validity, orders and decrees, this 10th
day of Sept, A.D., 1889,that same be admitted to probate in this Court as the
true and genuine last Will and Testament of said Andrew Alexander, deceased.
