MANLY -- Jake P. Funk Jr., 86, of 3754 Orchard Ave., died Tuesday (Dec. 2,
1997) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel,
126 Third St. N.E., Mason City.

MANLY -- Jake P. Funk Jr., 86, of Manly, died Tuesday (Dec. 2, 1997) at
North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mason City Baptist
Church, 1805 S. Wilson Ave., with the Rev. Jerry Hull officiating. Burial
will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial
Chapel, 126 third St. N.E., and one hour prior to the services on Friday at
the church.

Jake's family requests that memorials be directed to the Jake P. Funk Jr.
Memorial Fund or to the Mason City Baptist Church, 1805 S. Wilson Ave., in
his memory.

Jake P. Funk Jr was born October 11, 1911, in Mason City, the son of Jacob
and Louise (Schmidt) Funk.

In 1964 he was united in marriage to Margaret Luna, at the Baptist Church
in Albert Lea, Minn.

He was employed by the Armour plant for 48 years and after his retirement
there, was employed by the Mason City Police Department as a parking
attendant for two and a half years.

Jake loved playing softball. He entered the River City Softball Hall of
Fame in 1993. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and football on television,
and reading.

He was a member of the Mason City Baptist church for 40 years and served as
an usher at the church for many years. He also was a member of the Hispanic
American Club.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Funk, Manly; one son, Dennis Funk,
Santa Rosa, Calif.; five stepchildren, Gloria Fielder and her husband Jim,
Northwood; Clarence Mayo and his wife Denise, Manly. . . .

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jeanette, in 1958,
two sons, Jake Funk III and his wife, Connie; and Donald Funk; one sister,
Rosa; four brothers, Albert, Herman, Joseph and. . . .
