Joice - Funeral Services for Andrew Felland, 78, lifelong resident of this 
area, were held Friday at the Beaver Creek Lutheran church, with burial in the 
churchyard cemetery,  The Rev. Lewis Bakke officiated and also served as the 
soloist.  Mrs. James Tweeten served as organist.  Pallbearers were Floyd 
Drugg, Forest City; Kenneth Sanderson and Floyd Sanderson, both of Northwood; 
Wallace Felland, Forest City, Julius Rusley and Oscar Rusley, Joice.

Mr. Felland died Monday at the Forest City hospital.  He had suffered a heart 
attack three days before.

He was born Jan. 10, 1882 in Fertile township of Worth County near Joice.  He 
was one of seven children born to Knut and Margaret Houstad Felland.  He was 
baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was life long member of the 
Beaver Creek Lutheran church.

On June 16, 1908, he married Tilda Rusley of Forest City.  In early years of 
his married life he operated a rural grocery store, then started farming on 
his father's farm and also did carpenter work,  He continued living on the 
same farm the rest of his life.  His wife died in 1952. 

He served as president of a rural school board and was president of the Joice 
telephone company for 25 years and served as a justice of the peace for two 
years.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and a sister,  he 
is survived by his three children, Mrs. Mabel Smeby of Hanlontown, Clarence of 
Northwood and Ernest at home.  He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lewis 
Sanderson of Northwood and Marie Felland of Austin, six grandchildren, five 
great grandchildren as 14 nephews and nieces.
