OBITUARY: Lewaine R. Evans, Worth County, Iowa

                         Services held for Evans
           

Funeral services for Lewaine R. Evans, 77, Mason City, were held Friday at
Wesley United Methodist Church, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason
City.

Lewaine died Oct. 16, 2001 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason
City. Lewaine was born June 12, 1924 in Winnebago County, Iowa, the son of John
E. and Emelia G. (Nestvedt) Evans. His family later moved to Worth County.
He graduated from Kensett High School. He later moved to Plymouth where he
farmed.

He married Marjorie Deardeuff on Aug. 28, 1949 at the First United Methodist
Church in Mason City. They later moved to Mason City where they made their
home. He worked for 26 years as a laborer at Continental Grain before
retiring in 1986.

He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Wesley United
Methodist Church Men's Club and a former member of an antique car club. He
enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years Marjorie Evans of Mason City; children
Lois Knudtson and husband Dan of Roland, IA, Ronald Evans and wife Cheryl of
Hoffman Estates, IL, Barbara Lageschulte of Marshalltown, IA, Dennis Evans
and wife Jamie of Owatonna, MN; 10 grandchildren; sister-in-law Norma Evans
of Northwood and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Irdella and brother Eldon.
