OBITUARY: Hazel Rebecca Ellingson 1910-1997, Worth County, Iowa

NORTHWOOD -- Hazel Rebecca Ellingson, 87, of Northwood died Thursday
(Dec. 4, 1997) at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran
Church, with the Rev. Allan J. Stoa officiating. Burial will be in the
Sunset Rest Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of
services Saturday at the church.

The family of Hazel Rebecca Ellingson has requested that memorial contributions
be made to First Lutheran Church in Northwood, or the Lutheran Retirement Home
in her memory.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 99-11th St. S., is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Rebecca Ellingson was born Aug. 10, 1910, in Freeborn County, Minn.,
the daughter of Glade and Mathilda (Hanson) Jackson.  She was baptized and
reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the Lutheran
Church in Hayward, Minn. She attended and received her education in the
Freeborn County School system.

She was united in marriage to Walter Ellingson on June 12, 1927, in Austin,
Minn. He preceded her in death in 1983. After her marriage, she became a
Northwood resident and lived in her home until Oct. . . .

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood and was active in
ladies aid and church circles in her early membership years. Homemaking,
baking and being with her family and friends was her. . . .

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, LaVonne Flatness and her
husband, Alton, of Northwood, and Donna Wignes of Edina, Minn.; two grandsons,
Gary Wignes and his wife, Lisa, of Edina, Minn.,

Besides her husband, Walter, she also was preceded in death by her parents,
son-in-law, Stanley Wignes; three sisters, Minnie Olson, Gladys Pilatos and
Lela Thompson; and four brothers, Calvin, Verni. . . .
