               ALVY H.G. BORCHERDING

NORTHWOOD - Alvy H.G. Borcherding, 92, of Northwood, died Friday (July 20,
2001) at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church,
Northwood with the Rev. Paul Holmer officiating. Burial will be in Newburg
Cemetery, Carpenter.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Schroeder and Sites
Funeral Home, Northwood, (641) 324-1121.

            Alvy Herman George Borcherding [1909-2001]

Services held Monday Alvy Borcherding, 92

Alvy H. G. Borcherding, 92, Northwood, died on July 20, 2001, at the
Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.

Funeral services were held Monday at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood,
with the Rev. Paul Holmer officiating.  Burial was in the Newburg Cemetery,
Carpenter.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of Northwood was in charge of the arrangements.

Alvy Herman George Borcherding was born on Jan. 12, 1909 in Glidden, IA.
He was the son of Herman and Anna (Berner) Borcherding.  Alvy was baptized
on Feb. 7, 1909 at St. John's Lutheran Grant Township Church in Lidderdale,
IA and confirmed on June 1, 1924 at Peace Lutheran Church, Glidden.  Alvy
attended the public schools of Carroll County and worked with his father
on the family farm.  The family moved to their farm in Deer Creek Township,
Worth County, in 1934.  In 1942 he was drafted into the armed services to
serve in World War II.  He was stationed at Fort Knox, KY, where he served
as a tank instructor.  After returning from the service, he married
Florence Johnson on June 13, 1946.  To this union was born two children,
Ronald and Ruth Ann.  Alvy farmed for about 11 years and moved to Northwood
in 1957.  There he was employed by several businesses, the most recent
being at Carroll George.

Alvy was a member of the First Lutheran Church and remained a faithful
member until the time of his death.  Alvy was a devoted husband, father
and grandfather.  He will be greatly missed for his patience in times of
stress and his love for family and friends.

Alvy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence; brother
Richard; two sisters, Viola and Florence; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Johnson
and LaVerne Schallock; nieces Susan and Janine Johnson; nephew Jon Olsen.

He is survived by one son, Ronald and his wife Cathie of Waseca; daughter
Ruth Ann Borcherding of Northwood; sister Marion Borcherding of St. Ansgar;
brother Raymond and his wife Dallas of St. Ansgar; three grandchildren,
Richard and his wife Kelly, Jonathan and Molly of Waseca; many nieces and
nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews;
brother-in-laws Maynard Johnson of Northwood, Dale Johnson and his wife
Marge, Charles Johnson and his wife Betty, Harley Johnson and his wife
Clarissa, Ivan Johnson and his wife Kathy all of Osage, Keith Johnson
and his wife Jackie of Fort Dodge; sisters-in-law Eleanor Schallock,
Margaret and her husband Lowell Olsen, Mildred and her husband Norman
Sponheim, all of Osage, Carol and her husband Al McLaughlin of Belmond,
Sharon and her husband James Boyce of Roseville, MN, Frances Johnson of
Osage
