Will of William Masdon
(Mifflin Co. Will Book No. 1, Page 86, No. 43)

In the name of God Amen, I William Masdon of Wayne Township Mifflin county __ 
State of Pennsylvania, Being weak in Body but of Sound and perfect mind and 
Memory Blessed be Almight God for the Same do make and Publish this my last will 
and testament In manner and from following that is to say I Bequeath my Soul to 
Almighty God and my Body to the earth in hopes of a joyful Resurrection thro the 
merits of my Saviour And as touching that worldly estate wherewith it hath 
Blessed God to bless me ____ & I dispose thereof as follows (viz) first I 
bequeath to my Loving wife Eleanor all my Estate Real and personal During the 
term of her natural life Subject to the Restrictions and Limitations Herein 
after mentioned I do also give and devise my plantation whereon I now live to my 
sons William and Jacob to them their heirs or assigns forever, Subject to the 
payment of the legacies herin after mentioned (viz) I give to my son Jonothan 
one hundred pounds. Also I give and bequeath to my son John fourty pounds, to my 
son Justus Also forty pounds and to my son James I give fourty pounds & his 
boarding in the family whilst he shall remain single & do the weaving for the 
family & Help in harvest. & Further I give and bequeath to my Daughters the 
following sums Respectfully In addition to what they have already had to my my 
Daughter Rebeccah the sum of forty pounds, to Rachel ten pounds, to Mary I give 
one dollar & to her old Son when He arrives at the age of sixteen years I give 
ten pounds, to my daughter Eleanor I give fourty pounds a feather Bed & Bedding, 
and to my daughter Nancy I Also give Fourty pounds A feather Bed & Bedding & 
further my will is that on the Death of my wife all the movable property then 
remaining of my estate Save two Cows one for William & one for Jacob aforesaid 
shall be exposed to Sale & the monies thence arising to be equally divided Among 
all my children before named & further my will is that Immediately on my Decease 
my Sons William and Jacob before mentioned Shall Labour & Enjoy the Benefits of 
the Plantation Whereon I now live they Providing my wife in Every Necessary of 
Life & Also ten pounds annually & a feather bed and bedding to be absolutely at 
Her Disposal annuity to Commence at my Decease & end with hers & further with 
Respect to the Sums Bequeathed to my children my will is that in one year after 
the Decease of my wife Jonothans Legacy Shall be paid him & one year thereafter 
Johns to be paid him and so on the rest of the Lagatees year after year 
according to Seniority until the whole shall be paid except the ten Pounds given 
to the old Son of my Daughter Mary McLaughlin which is to be paid when he shall 
arive at the age of sixteen years as before mentioned & further I do hereby 
constitute & appoint my sons William and Jacob before mentioned my executors of 
this my last will & testament & I do also constitute & appoint my son Jonothan & 
my son in law William Wakefield to Superintend the said executors in causing 
this my Last Will and testament to be duly executed & I do hereby revoke all 
former wills by me made - in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and 
seal the 14th March in the year 1796- -
